Zuena Kirema slams critics who make derogatory comments about Alpha Ssali’s eyes

Zuena Kirema has responded to social media users who always insult and speak ill about her children.

Speaking during her birthday celebrations, Zuena Kirema called out a section of users who have made it a habit to criticize Alpha Ssali’s eyes.

Ssali, Zuena’s firstborn son, has a visible eye condition in which one eye is turned in a different direction from the other. She added that the criticism that surrounded Alpha Ssali’s eyes every time she posted his picture on social media hurt deeply.

Zuena narrated that Ssali had a terrible accident some time back, affecting his eyes, and it took him four surgeries to get to where he is at.

“I do not care if they abuse him. There is a time when I post about my son and they complain about his eye. That boy got in an accident and he has been through four eye operations. When he sees these things and it hurts him but there is nothing we can do. Sometimes you read the comments and wonder if these people have an idea about what I have been through to get my child to where he is. If God could turn the tables, I do not know if they can survive what we have been through,” she said.

The effects of the accidents and the constant operations not only caused so much worry but also affected his confidence as a teenager. His family had to encourage and talk to him to embrace the situation.

“We would get very worried every time he had surgery and prayed together. As a family, we encouraged him and talked to him, and we thank God for how far we have come. We are happy with the level of progress we have made so far,” Zuena said about the improvements in Alpha Ssali’s eyes.
