Renowned musician Phina Mugerwa Masanyalaze born Josephine Mugerwa has announced plans to hold her first-ever concert soon, marking a huge milestone in her prominent career.
Despite kicking off her music journey as early as 2007, she has never held a solo concert, pushing fans to eagerly look out for a moment.
Phina Mugerwa’s exceptional waist-shaking skills have over the years earned her the nickname ‘Ugandan Shakira’, drawing comparisons to the Latin American dancer. Her flexibility and energetic stage performances have made her an interesting entertainer.
Phina Mugerwa who is slowly cementing her place in the corporate world as the Secretary for the Uganda Musicians Association believes she is now ready for the huge moment, having gathered a good fanbase that she believes will support her.
“Now I have built my empire and I have a good number of fans. I know when I announce the concert, they will come to watch me for different reasons. After all the years, I’m finally ready,” she said.
Unlike the typical concerts where the singer will have multiple acts supporting her by curtain raising, Phina Mugerwa says she will take the stage alone, giving her fans an intimate and immersive experience.
“I’m too expectant when it comes to production. I love doing it when a person comes through, they only see me, not alongside other people. I’m going to stage a one army show,” she said, promising her fans an unforgettable night of music and fun.
For her highly anticipated debut concert, Phina is drawing inspiration from Western artists like Beyonce, known for their high levels of energy on stage and dedication to what they do. She aims to deliver a similarly unforgettable experience, concentrating more on production.
“I look at these shows, sit and understand them. You find her having a session for dancing only, then the one for vocals and the like. She gives you the real her. Not announcing a concert and having several artists following you. I want to give people the real Phina because they have never experienced it. Even if I want to perform just five songs, you can enjoy it as long as the production is good. The way you bring out the product matters a lot. You can sing over 50 songs and I deliver only 5 and get them talking,” she said.
Phina has been working and maintaining her main asset, which is the waist, and believes the show will be worth every penny that revelers will pay.
“You will witness it because I work out. I work and care about my waist so much. I do rehearsals. You know when the product is off the market for some time, the demand is high and prices go high as long as you keep the quality. I have that quality and they will pay for that brand,” she revealed.
