Bucha Man has launched a music competition ‘Ghetto’s Got Talent’ aimed at discovering, helping, and promoting fresh talent among the vulnerable and helpless youths situated in the ghetto areas.
The initiative is currently ongoing and the self-styled ghetto president together with his team has been to different parts of the ghetto encouraging youths to record videos and send them on WhatsApp.
According to the committee, the project will be officially opened next month (November) in a grand opening ceremony where the youngsters will have the chance to showcase their different talents before the panel of judges and a huge group of revelers that will be in attendance.
This is expected to run through December up to next year around January with the hope that the team will move through different regions of the country provided they get funding from the government.
We are not looking at Kampala only but that is where our finances stop. This is a big initiative that needs support. Right now, we do not have any sponsorship. The few that have come through, the finances are not enough, Bucha Man said.
The aim of the program is to lift talent, and polish the already talented youths through different programs like boot camps that will see young talent empowered and sensitized on how to manage and earn from their talent.
This is targeting vulnerable communities in the ghettos and they hope it will reduce the increased crime rates that are on the rise in the Ghetto.

Some of them are super talented but because they are poor, they end up using drugs and losing it. If we start this program of building their careers through these programs, the government should come forward and assist us, self-styled Mama Ghetto, also Bucha Man’s wife, stated.
The committee has so far engaged the state minister for the youth, Balaam Barugahare, and hopes to hold an official press conference to expound more on the project.
