Buka Chimey to stage maiden concert focusing on mental health in creative arts

Singer David Musolo, known by his stage name Buka Chimey, is gearing up for his debut live concert this November 9th at Motiv, Old Port Bell Road, Kampala. Dubbed Mindful Creativity with Buka Chimey, the much-anticipated event aims to highlight the importance of mental health awareness in the creative arts while delivering unforgettable live performances.

Buka Chimey is leading the charge in raising awareness about the mental health struggles faced by artists in Uganda’s creative industry. In a field often marked by intense pressure and public scrutiny, Buka is determined to shine a light on challenges like burnout, anxiety, and imposter syndrome—issues many creatives face but rarely discuss openly.

This concert is not just about the music; it’s a platform for change. Buka Chimey is using his influence to encourage conversations around mental health, ensuring these challenges are no longer swept under the rug. Announcing the concert on his social media, Buka emphasized the importance of addressing these issues: “The creative arts industry is driven by passion, innovation, and expression, yet many professionals face significant mental health challenges, including burnout, anxiety, and depression,” he shared on his X account.

The Mindful Creativity concert will feature Buka Chimey performing alongside a live DJ and band, promising an energetic and soulful experience.

In addition to the performances, attendees can look forward to live podcast sessions and workshops covering stress management, mindfulness, and practical strategies for maintaining mental well-being as a creative.

For Buka Chimey, this concert is more than just a performance—it’s a continuation of his advocacy for mental wellness in the creative community. He recognizes the emotional demands of artistic work, particularly in a public-facing industry, and hopes to empower his fellow creatives to prioritize their mental health.

The event will also feature immersive discussions, networking opportunities, and a global livestream, allowing fans and creatives from all over the world to participate in the conversation. Buka hopes that through this initiative, industry leaders will adopt more supportive mental health practices, such as flexible schedules and mental health days.
