Dancehall singer Cindy Sanyu has finally addressed the long-standing rumors about the alleged beef with former group member, Lilian Mbabazi.
Cindy, Lilian and Jackie Chandiru are part of an all-girl group ‘Blu*3 that rocked the airwaves in the 2000s but later disbanded, before their reunion towards the end of last year.
The self-styled King Herself in an interview denied any bad blood between her and Lilian, confessing that she is closer to Jackie who she thinks needs more comfort and grace after a long battle with drug addiction.
“I do not know why people think like that. In life, you can’t love two people exactly in the same way. I feel the love I have towards Jackie is different from the one with Lilian. I love Jackie in a way that she needs me, there is a way I feel she might need my love and comfort because of the situation she has gone through. She needs me more than Lilian who I feel is independent”.
The group recently had their much-anticipated reunion concert and during rehearsals, Cindy and Jackie had many clips of them together and few with Lilian.
Netizens assumed that they had failed to make up despite the show that was meant to bring them together. In the same interview, Cindy Sanyu rubbished the assumptions, making it clear that her closeness to Jackie doesn’t mean that she hates Lilian.
“Sometimes I do not intend it, I just find myself closer to Jackie and it doesn’t mean I do not love Lilian. To me, Jackie is more vulnerable, she might need a hug from me faster than Lilian because of her past.
We were working together even throughout the rehearsals. It’s just that Lilian is a serious person who just doesn’t joke or play around,” she said.

In September last year, Cindy Sanyu had a music battle with Sheebah Karungi at Kololo inviting different fellow musicians but Lilian Mbabazi who was in attendance did not join Cindy on stage to perform their old songs.
Sheebah had an after party, inviting her close friends including Lilian and when she was asked to give a speech, she revealed she chose the Karma Queen over her former bandmate because she is her ‘gango’.
In the interview, Cindy Sanyu believes that Lilian chose her nemesis because she related more with her but not because they had a beef between them.
“Everyone has to go on their friend’s side; a person who they are closer to and it doesn’t mean that they do not love me. I do not have issues with fellow artists or anyone but because of my lifestyle, I may not have time to create friends among them. She is my friend but at that time she had to choose and she chose her because they are in the federation together and hang out together, so she had to go to her side,” Cindy Sanyu noted.
“The love I have for Jackie is different from the love I have for Lilian—Jackie needs my love more than Lilian does,” Cindy Sanyu responds to rumors that she and Lilian still don’t like each other.
