Daddy Andre shares how musicians who hold yearly concerts undermine the music industry’s worth

Producer and musician Daddy Andre has laughed at local musicians who make it a point to stage concerts every other year, saying they are embarrassing the music industry.

Local artists have made it a norm to stage shows annually with the aim of making money and cementing their position in the industry.

Daddy Andre is among the few artists who have not had the plans to hold one and in an interview with the press, he watered down the idea, claiming that this culture has made the industry lose value.

It doesn’t make sense for an artist to just stage concerts all the time; celebrating every simple milestone that is unnecessary and irrelevant. Stop embarrassing us and if it is the promoters lying to you that there is money in these concerts, better avoid them and stay poor. How can you do a concert every year and do the same thing the next? Daddy Andre revealed.

Months back, Daddy Andre announced that he would be holding his concert but did not mention the date or the venue. In the interview, he revealed that the idea is still in the pipeline but he desired to give himself time and wait for his fans to show him that they were ready for him. This would also give him time to come up with something unique and special for his fans.

Daddy Andre
I would rather be despised than come up with something unique and nice. I want my fans to even riot demanding for a concert because every fan who loves you has to go an extra mile to show you that they really want it. It means you are actually a celebrity, he said.

Daddy Andre promised that his concert would be expensive and worth the wait. He would then return to production for a number of years before he stages another one. This would give him time to compile a rich catalog, contrary to musicians who stage a concert after getting just one hit song.

You have to eagerly wait for good things. My concert is coming up at any time. You never know I might hold it in the UK, Tanzania or anywhere else as long as the person attending knows my value. I do not want to be like other artists who stage concerts all the time. Every family has an underdog and I’m that person, he said.
