Karole Kasita shares challenges of Balancing Motherhood and Music

Dancehall singer Karole Kasita has shared the challenges that come with balancing motherhood and her active music career, revealing that it is challenging being a present mom in the music industry.

Last year in January, Karole Kasita welcomed her adorable son whom she christened King. However, the joy of motherhood came with challenges that had her leaving her almost two-year-old son behind as she struggled with being a present mother.

After some time, you realize it is really hard because when your child is young, you want to be with them and when they grow older, they become very adorable so you don’t want to leave home. I can have a busy schedule that involves working overnight and when I get back home, my son wants my attention because he is missing me. It is hard leaving him yet I have to go to work, she said.

According to Karole, the hardest part was when she had to travel for upcountry shows while still nursing King. Sometimes she would need to spend many hours in the studio, something that could not allow her to exclusively breastfeed because of her being away from home.

King is not a crybaby so it didn’t affect me so much. Sometimes it used to happen when I went to upcountry shows very far away, he would cry for a long time because he was not seeing me. But when I was around the city, I would run back home and breastfeed, she noted.

When you get a chance to be a mother, please give birth. Because life is hard and short, you need to have that one person you can always count on and there is no one else you can lean on in this world more than your child, she noted.
