Kira Road police launched an investigation after an incident that happened earlier this week at the famous nightclub Mezo Noir, which resulted in the death of a young lady named Martha Ahumuza Murari.
According to the police statement, Edward Mugabo, the cashier at the hangout spot and friend to Martha has been detained together with the nightclub manager.
Surveillance footage shows that Martha arrived at Mezo Noir at around 2 AM to meet her friend Edward Mugabo who works as a cashier at the nightclub.
An hour later, at around 3 AM the two proceeded to the manager’s office and that’s where Martha suddenly collapsed according to Mugabo’s statement.
Mugabo immediately called Martha’s brother who rushed to the club and together, they quickly took her to Kampala Hospital where she was put on life support. Unfortunately, she was later pronounced dead.
Investigations are underway to determine the exact cause of her death and whether it was a case of foul play.
As they await the outcome of the ongoing investigations, Martha’s family announced that she will be laid to rest on 23rd March, 2025 in Nyarubanga, Mbarara.

Police have urged anyone with information about the incident to come forward as investigations continue.
