Nina Roz acknowledges DJ Shiru’s selfless support in propelling her music career

Singer Nina Roz, real name Nina Kakunda has publicly rained praises on legendary deejay, DJ Shiru for the selfless support he has rendered to her career. In a heartwarming display of gratitude, the self-styled Ugandan Property emphasized Shiru’s dedicated and loyal support of her music career when she had just started singing.

Shiru knew me even before I started doing music. I was still hiding behind other people but I’m glad that I have made a friend in him. He has made me who I am because he is the kind of person who doesn’t front money, something that is hard to find in our music industry, she said.

Nina Roz noted that most deejays ask for money, and sexual favors, from musicians to have their songs played on their sets. Shiru is a different kind because he consistently supports her without expecting anything in return. She, in fact, doesn’t remember a time when he asked her for payments or favors, a gesture that is so rare in the industry.

You will find an upcoming deejay who is new in the game also asking an artist to pay money before they can play their music. I thank Shiru for having a good heart because he never collected any single coin from me or even disrespect me or my talent for not paying him. she noted.

Over the weekend, DJ Shiru had his annual ‘Mega Shirumatic Experience’ and Nina Roz was more than happy to be part of it. She was among the few musicians who actively promoted it, also making an appearance at the show’s press conference. Her presence was a sign of her support and the strong friendship bond between them.

“I thank him for respecting himself. That is why I also give him that much respect to the point that I will run as fast as I can when he calls me,” she stated.

It is not news that some deejays or industry professionals like producers, managers, and songwriters among others ask for favors beyond money in exchange for their support. Nina Roz advises fellow artists, especially upcoming ones to always stick to their values and not compromise their art.

“There are those that kept on asking for money and more but I had to know what I wanted and stick to that. You just have to be alert as an artist because, at the end of the day, they are human and not related to you,” Nina Roz revealed.
