Singer Ronald Alimpa has been granted court bail following his arrest on Wednesday this week.
Alimpa’s arrest is related to the fact that he failed to show up at two scheduled performances in Rakai district during the course of the Christmas festivities last year, despite having initially pocketed the event organizer’s Ugx 3m deposit.
It is alleged that Ronald Alimpa’s failure to turn up at the event compelled revellers to turn rowdy, and embarked on burning generators, sound systems and plastic chairs among other equipment.
The event organizer filed a lawsuit, and Alimpa was served a summon, but he failed to honour it owing he was still recovering from a fractured limb following an accident he encountered a few months back that left a few of his fellow artists dead.
In an effort for the promoter to get justice, he joined efforts with the Katwe police station, and Alimpa was arrested from his home on Wednesday.
The singer was then driven off to Rakai district, where his case file stood. Based on Alimpa’s prevailing health condition, the court gave the singer bail.

According to Nobert Events, Alimpa’s complainant may have had other ulterior motives because, despite claiming he wanted Ugx 180m in compensation for the damaged property when speaking to the media, he demands Ugx 3m in the lawsuit he filed.
Nobert expressed his gratitude to the Rakai district judiciary for handling the singer’s case professionally and vowed to avail him whenever he will be needed.
