Sheebah Karungi has reflected on the most challenging concert of her career, naming last year’s music battle with Cindy Sanyu. The concert was indeed a defining moment in her career, but not for the reasons she had hoped as it ultimately became a source of conflict rather than showcase dominance.
For the self-styled Karma Queen who has continuously preached peace and the importance of love and unity, the battle experience was quite challenging because it split music lovers into two camps with each fiercely supporting their preferred artist.
The show that has ever challenged me the most as a person was the battle because it had a lot of negativities and I do not operate like that. It was all about fighting with fans clashing and going against each other, causing divisions yet I’m not that kind of person.
I work well with unity rather than separation. I’m a lover, not a hater, I spread more love than hate,” she said.
Despite the challenges and divisions that arose, Sheebah Karungi expresses gratitude that the event ultimately ended on a positive note.
The battle had been highly anticipated, with rumors circulating about the huge amounts of money that they both stood to gain.
In the end, not only did the musicians benefit financially, but their fans also got the exciting and memorable experience that they were looking for.
Those who attended the battle still talk about the electric atmosphere and the fun they had and Sheebah takes pride in knowing that she could team up with her nemesis, Cindy to deliver that, despite their differences.
But Glory be to God we got through it well and everyone got what they wanted out of it. All our fans got what they were looking for and those who attended know we had so much fun, Sheebah Karungi said.
