The Uganda Police has addressed reports of a shooting at singer and politician Bobi Wine in Bulindo Bulindo in Kira Municipality.
Earlier today, reports surfaced on several socializing apps pointing out that Bobi Wine had been shot at and injured before being rushed to Nsambya Hospital for medical attention.
Based on an update issued via Bobi Wine’s social media accounts, he claimed that the police and military surrounded their vehicles and started firing live bullets, teargas canisters, and other projectiles after visiting the NUP party lawyer Musisi George.
In the same vein, the Uganda Police has issued a statement, clarifying that Bobi Wine had visited lawyer George Musisi for a thanksgiving ceremony.
The singer participated in the event successfully, and as he left he and his team moved out of their cars and embarked on a procession up to Bulindo town; however, the police advised against it. Despite their guidance, Bobi insisted on proceeding and closing the road, leading to police intervention to prevent the procession.
During the ensuing altercation, it is alleged that he sustained injuries. Police stress that officers on site claim he stumbled while getting into his vehicle, causing the injury, and was rushed to Najaeem Medical Centre in Bulindo for first aid.
