Spice Diana has once again made it clear that the reason why she left the Uganda National Musicians Federation (UNMF) was because they had fallen off from the initial plan which was to fight for the copyright law.
Speaking to the media, the Source Management singer revealed that she initially joined the Eddy Kenzo-led federation with anticipation that they shared the same vision of helping artists earn from their craft even when they were no longer doing music; something they have since failed to do.
“I left when I saw that it is not really about focusing on the main issue which is fighting for the copyright law, or something long-term.
Personally, what I thought was the right thing to do was to fight for something that would last in that even when I was not doing music anymore, I would still earn from it. Or support my young one with hope that they would earn something but we are just divided,” Spice Diana said.
Spice Diana further stated that the only way she will earn money from her music is by being on stage all the time and getting paid for performances.
“I sing from the first to the last day of the month because I have to get the money from being on stage. We do not earn from the channels through which our music goes because there are other people that we do not know and are more powerful than us who are getting that money. We cannot start questioning them about this that is why I’m concentrating on my hustle right now,” Spice Diana concluded.
The Federation was unveiled in May 2023, electing Eddy Kenzo as the president and Sheebah Karungi as the vice president.
Several artists rallied behind them and right now, it is still uniting these artists under the same umbrella through their weekly jam sessions held at Allure Hotel and Suites, Mutundwe.

The other section, however, believes that the Federation was not benefiting them and over time, we have seen different artists like Afrigo Band’s Moses Matovu, and Daddy Andre among others denounce the federation.
