Through the Uganda Musicians Association’s social media platforms, the electoral commission declared Monday 6th June 2022 as the day to vote for the association’s respective leaders.
By around 11: 00 AM on Monday, the election process had kickstarted and was being conducted through the phone SMS under the code *260#.
Geoffrey Ekongot the association electoral chairman revealed that they were to announce provisional results in two intervals, that is at 12:30 PM & 3: 00 PM before the announcement of the final results at the end of the day.
However, the UMA electoral plans may not go as planned following the system shutdown amid the election process.
The system faced a technical glitch, which saw the screens meant to show the voter’s turn-up at the main tally center at the National Theatre go off.
The unforeseen circumstance left King Saha and Lord Bitem rubbed the wrong way, as they revealed that this is one of the tricks used by their rival Cindy Sanyu to engage in electoral malpractice.

However, NITA and UMA electoral commission rubbished the allegations, stressing that they working hard to restore the network since it was overloaded by traffic due to the overwhelming turn-up.
The UMA electoral chairman Geoffrey Ekongot revealed that the voting process will go ahead as planned and the voting is expected to stop at around 5: 00 PM.
Before the system shutdown, the incumbent Cindy Sanyu was leading her rivals King Saha and Lord Bitem.
