Ugandan environment activist and founder of Faith in Trees Ariokot Faith Patricia has managed to achieve the Guinness World Record for the Longest Tree Hug ().
This was Faith’s second attempt, as her first try on December 8th, 2023, was unsuccessful due to a camera malfunction that resulted in the omission of a few minutes from the recording.
On the 29th of December 2023, Faith made her second attempt in Soroti, successfully surpassing Adrienne Long’s previous record of ten hours and five minutes set in 2020.
However, during her attempt, lightning struck, forcing her to conclude the hug at precisely 15 hours and 19 minutes.

We did it. We broke the world record of 8:00 hours
We surpassed our expected time of 13:00hours
We were on our way to make atleast 17hours.
Then lightening struck and we had no choice but to stop the attempt.
At exactly 15hours and 19… pic.twitter.com/XnSQy0MuRK
