Dan Flavour returns to Uganda after unsuccessful witch doctor job in South Africa

Singer Dan Flavour, born Daniel Tumwesigye has made a surprising return back home after a disappointing experience in South Africa where he had reportedly gone to seek greener pastures.

Dan Flavour has been in the industry for over a decade, rising to fame in the era of Radio and Weasel, and his career is associated with hits like ‘Rudi Nyumbani’, and Gwenjagala among others.

His musical success, however, was followed by personal struggles, forcing him to openly share his past experience with depression and suicidal thoughts earlier this year.

Seeking a fresh start, Dan Flavour decided to travel to South Africa after a friend promised him a lucrative opportunity for him to earn money. Unfortunately, the job turned out to be a scam, requiring him to act as a Sangoma (a traditional healer) and extort money from unsuspecting and ignorant people.

Disappointed, Dan Flavour refused to take part in the scam, citing his passion for doing music and inability to take advantage of innocent people. He stated that many Ugandans are in South Africa engaging in similar activities but his calling was to sing and love people, not to con them.

I could not survive in South Africa because the only job I know how to do is music but they wanted to steal and con people. I only know how to sing and love people. I believe in humanity that is why I cannot con people.

They took me to steal from desperate people and I couldn’t do that. Imagine I boarded a plane to just go there and steal but I could not because I was not born to do that. I just had to come back to Uganda,” he noted.
