Big Talent singer Eddy Kenzo’s rendition of Born in Africa has been nominated in the Caribbean Music Awards for the best music video.
“Born in Africa” is a song that was initially produced by the late Philly Bongole Lutaaya who died on 15th December 1989.
33 years later, Lutaaya’s family permitted Eddy Kenzo to redo “Born in Africa” in honour of the late singer’s legacy.
Kenzo’s rendition, despite having fantastic visuals, drew a lot of criticism from many music critics who claimed he didn’t recreate the song effectively.
Fortunately, the song video has been nominated for the Caribbean Music Award. It will now compete against several other videos from around the world for the title of best video.
The Caribbean Music Awards are a venue for recognising, honouring, and celebrating Caribbean talent that has significantly improved their music and diverse culture.
