Hatim names Dokey’s girlfriend as key factor for their split

The rift between the former music duo Hatim and Dokey continues to grow deeper, and new details about their split are emerging.

In an interview with Mr. Henrie, Hatim, real name Ken Seruwagi, the former half of the duo, blamed Dokey’s partner and baby mama for their split.

Hatim claims that after Dokey wrote their single ‘Hustler Wowaka,’ the latter’s new girlfriend promised to fund the video shoot. Hatim believes in due process; she managed to convince him to ditch the duo and pursue a solo career.

“He got so excited after she told him that she would be investing in us. But she was lying. I just laughed because there are things you cannot lie to me,” he said.

According to Hatim, their fallout started to become evident after he had personal issues, which he decided to open up to Dokey as his brother in a meeting in 2024. Here, he hinted at their separation, an idea Hatim didn’t buy.

Amidst his depression, Hatim learned that Dokey had organized a solo concert dubbed ‘Ten Years Of Dokta Brain’ behind his back. He was only presented with the Memorandum of Understanding, which required him to sign in his (Dokta Brain) place because he was out of the country.

The concert was slated to happen in Kajjansi, Dokta Brain’s hometown. When Hatim asked him how he would be able to explain to his friends and supporters why he would not be part of the concert, Dokta Brain suggested it was meant to celebrate him alone; therefore, he had no business inviting them.

This firmly convinced Hatim that his ex-music partner’s new woman had strongly influenced his decision because she thought he would be more successful alone than as a brand, ‘Hatim & Dokey.’

“There was no way he had hidden that from me unless he had discussed it with someone like her. I do not have proof of it but from what I heard him say, I knew the words were coming from a woman.”

“We had people that had supported us and were close to us on both sides and would be happy with us together and would celebrate our concert both. What would I then do with the people on my side? He told me not to invite them because he had partnered with me and not those people. I knew this statement was from a woman because these people had really supported us to move forward. That statement would only come from someone who doesn’t know our history; like that woman,” Hatim said.

The concert, however, did not happen mainly because the record label’s investment (10 million) was too little to cover the costs. Regardless, the duo split because of the broken trust, and both parties moved on with solo careers.
