The International University of East Africa (IUEA) successfully organized the Youth Fest 2024, centered on the theme “The Role of Young People in Advancing Technology, Sustainable Energy & Global Business.”
This two-day event commenced in the university Auditorium, providing an interactive platform for youth to exchange ideas with global experts from countries such as Russia and China.
The Youth Fest addressed critical subjects including technology, nuclear energy, healthcare, and business, all aimed at promoting sustainable development.
During the Youth Fest 2024, the university’s vice-chancellor, Prof. Emeka Akaezuwa, emphasized the crucial roles of technology and sustainable energy in fostering Africa’s advancement. He highlighted the importance of nuclear energy in energizing systems and underscored that environmental preservation is a collective responsibility.
Additionally, Ilona Iliasova, Director of the Department of Intercultural Communications at BRICS Alliance Strategies, discussed the global character of contemporary education and the capacity of young individuals to effect transformative change.
A significant contribution was made by Aleksei Semenov, the Head of Business Development for Rosatom Central and South Africa, who addressed the economic implications of investing in nuclear energy.
The Youth Fest 2024 highlighted the essential role that young individuals play in the nuclear energy sector. With Rosatom employing hundreds of thousands globally, the nuclear industry offers a wide array of career opportunities for the younger generation.

Furthermore, Judith Obino Okumu, Private Secretary to the President responsible for Political Affairs, commended the partnership between Uganda and Russia.
