The administrators of the estate of the fallen Kadongo Kamu legend, Job Paul Kafeero through their lawyers Libirige & CO. Advocates have issued Luga Flow rapper Gravity Omutujju with an intention to sue over Walumbe Zaaya.
The document dated 11th February states that in 2012, Gravity Omutujju, real name Gereson Wabuyu together with Pitaxon and producer Rinex under Big Talent reproduced, shot a remix version, and continued performing the song without the family’s authorization.
The video uploaded on the singer’s YouTube channel features audio, visual fixation, beats, lyrics, and voices of the deceased with no authorization.
“These acts constitute gross violations of copyright and neighboring rights including but not limited to: Violation of the Author’s Moral and Economic Rights, Unlawful reproduction, adaptation, and distribution of copyrighted work and unauthorized commercial exploitation of the Late Paul Kafeero’s intellectual property rights,” read part of the notice.
Gravity Omutujju was therefore ordered to stop performing the song, distributing or exploiting it in any form. He was also ordered to remove the song from all music platforms and pay the family all the proceeds from the song with a full accountability statement detailing all revenues received from the violations.
He is also supposed to pay the family Shs. 2 billion in general damages and failure to comply with the above within five days, other adverse measures will be taken at the rapper’s cost.
