Swangz Avenue singer Priscilla Zawedde alias Azawi has today 09th October 2023 dropped her 16-track album dubbed Sankofa.
In view of the recent announcement regarding Azawi’s forthcoming album, the Sankofa album has been a subject of extensive discussion within the music industry for over a month.
As the scheduled date of release approached, on the 3rd of October 2023, Azawi hosted a private gathering for her fans and members of the media. During this event, she provided an exclusive preview of her meticulously crafted album.
The exclusive event took place at Kibo Lounge in Naguru, where Azawi offered valuable insights into the various sources of inspiration behind her songs featured on the album.
Sankofa is a term derived from the Twi language of Ghana, which can be interpreted as “Retrace one’s steps to the past in order to pave a path towards the future.”
The album showcases several beat makers, namely Artin Pro, Banger Boi, and Steve Keys, among other notable contributors.
In her fourth track titled “Summer Bae,” Azawi collaborates with Jamaican dancehall sensation Konshens, as well as Kenya’s renowned musical group Sauti Sol on her sixth track titled “Njagala Vibe.”
Elijah Kitaka, who shares a label with Azawi, was featured on two of her tracks, namely Harder and Elevated. Additionally, Elevated also featured the musical contributions of Mike Kayihura and Bensoul.

Sankofa has been released and is now available for purchase at all music retailers. The album features a variety of tracks, including Champion From Africa, Egaali, Summer Bae, Brand New, Njagala Vibe, Harder, Infinity, Elevated, Lucky Day, Married Man, Worship, Outside, Money, Omwenge, and My God.
