As the Buganda kingdom gears up for the impending annual Kabaka birthday run, veteran singer princess Sheilla Nvanungi wants it called off.
On 9th March 2023, Buganda dignitaries including Prime Minister Charles Peter Mayiga officially launched the 2023 Kabaka birthday run at Bulange, Mengo – Kampala.
Slated for Sunday, 16th April 2023, this year’s run will be themed; “The fight to end HIV/ AIDS by 2030.”
The King of Buganda Kingdom Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II is expected to officially flag off the run at Lubiri, Mengo – Kampala city.
However, according to Kabaka’s prevailing health state, the princess of Buganda Princess Sheilla Nvanungi believes that this year’s festivities should be halted.
Sheilla continues by saying that it is absurd for people to celebrate while Kabaka is currently fighting for his life.
Besides Kabaka being a traditional leader, he is a human who faces health challenges like anybody else. Sheilla is quoted in a video making rounds.
She further noted that rather than holding the Kabaka birthday run celebrations, those in charge could call upon people to hold a prayer session in which they ask God to stretch his healing hand unto the traditional leader.

Princess Sheilla Nvanungi maintained that she is not rallying Bagandas to oppose the festivities, but rather more worried about the Kabaka’s health.
It should be recalled that Kabaka’s health has been a subject of controversy for years, and he has been transported outside the nation on several occasions for specialized medical care.
