Singer Grenade Official real name Deus Ndugwa was stopped from performing at the just concluded Ikon Awards.
Over the weekend, the Ikon Awards held its debut edition at the Kampala Serena Hotel. At the memorable event, over 25 awards were handed to noteworthy personalities in the film and TV fraternity.
Artists like Rickman Manrick, Irene Ntale, and Benty Boys Africa, among others, partly left the exhilarated audience on their toes.
However, there were a couple of incidents that went unnoticed at the Ikon Awards, including Grenade’s failure to render his services at the event.
According to the show director, Bushington real name George Kagoda, Grenade flouted the guidelines set forth by the event steering group.
Bushington adds that the event performances were intended to be held in a Mashup configuration in which multiple artists took the stage.
To achieve this, Grenade was required to do rehearsals with the dancers that were recruited at the event.
The Babandana crooner, however, vehemently disagreed with the decision, claiming he couldn’t perform with dancers he wasn’t familiar with.
Bushington agreed to Grenade’s suggestion to perform with the dancers of his choice, and together they concluded that the singer should first rehearse with his dancer before taking the stage.
