The absence of the Kabaka at the just-concluded-Enkuuka Tobongoota 2023 event has puzzled many people.
Last night, the annual end-of-year celebration occurred at Lubiri in Mengo, marking the transition from 2023 to 2024.
This event is known for its performances by musicians from all over the country, who entertain revellers and the King of Buganda, Ronald Muwenda Mutebi.
However, this year’s Enkuuka, with its “Tobongoota” theme, did not see the presence of the Kabaka, which has raised questions among netizens.
According to reports, it is a Buganda tradition for the Kabaka not to appear at the same place for two consecutive days.

Since the Kabaka had already overseen the Enkuuka venue the day before the event, he could not attend the actual celebration. Instead, he was represented by Naalinya Agnes Nabaloga.
