Zani Lady C accuses Zari Hassan of claiming ownership and profiting from her songs

Singer and actress Zani Lady C accuses Zari Hassan of claiming ownership of her songs and profiting from them.

Zani Lady C a few days back raised concerns, following her song Charles Yimirira Awo was uploaded on YouTube by Tonny Kalanzi with the intent to profit from it.

Subsequently, the song gained remarkable momentum on social media, before Viola Nakitende hit the recording booth releasing its rendition without seeking permission.

Following Viola Nakitende’s copyright infringement, Zani Lady C embarked on distributing her songs on various streaming platforms like Spotify, TuneCore, and YouTube, among others.

To her dismay, when she attempted to distribute her songs, they were rejected, as they had already been distributed, with Zari Hassan as the owner of the majority of the songs and profiting from them.

The songs registered under Zari Hassan include Ndoowa, Agaba Bintu, Tolaba, Nkaaba, On the Floor, and Fine, and were distributed on prominent platforms over a year back.

This compelled Zani to reveal to the Uganda Performing Rights Society (UPRS) that she had never permitted anyone to distribute or own her songs, calling for immediate intervention.
