Singer A Pass born Alexander Bagonza has shared his opinion about the era he thinks the Ugandan music industry was progressing, pointing out the period when one of the most popular music duos ‘Radio & Weasel’ ruled the airwaves both locally and internationally.
A Pass nostalgically recounted the peace and unity that rained between artists during that period, prompting them to team up and release some of the greatest all-star collaborations like Mr. DJ, Locomotive, and Magic Anthem among others, which turned out to be nationwide anthems.
According to A Pass, this era was beautiful because of how much they focused on music and less on personal beefs and rivalries.
“The era of Radio and Weasel was very special because we had many artists and they were very united. This is when we got to taste some of the greatest all-star collaborations. That time was very beautiful because people focused on the music,” he said.
Comparing it to the current era, A Pass expressed his disappointment in how people with little knowledge about music started to not only join the industry but also give their opinions.
He tagged this problem to social media which he feels has given a lot of people a platform to have a say on something they have little understanding about.

“Right now we have a challenge that someone that is deep in the village without any single knowledge about music has the audacity to speak about it. That is all a problem of social media that even a dense person with no idea about what they are saying, positions themselves to talk about something they do not understand. There are very many opinions from people who are ignorant,” A Pass said.
