40 years ago, Uganda’s oldest drama group Bakayimbira Dramactors started as a secondary school friendship at Kampala High School.
The group was started by three inseparable literature friends Andrew Benon KIbuuka, Aloysious Matovu Joy, and Senkubuge Charles.

Aloysius Matovu who was already a member of Kampala Dramactors spotted the talent in Benon Kibuuka and Charles Senkubuge, as the trio acted their debut play in ‘The Road’
According to Andrew Benon Kibuuka, their childhood bond that started in 1980 has kept Bakayimbira Dramactors going untill this day.
The group has stood the taste of time and scooped awards both on the local and international scene. The group has nurtured many in the industry hence keeping their legacy moving.
