State minister for the youth and events promoter, Hon. Balaam Barugahara has addressed rumors suggesting that he infected a young woman with HIV before ditching her.
The allegations stemmed from a TikTok user, who claimed she dated the minister, only for him to dump her without any help.
In an interview, Balaam Barugahara denied the allegations, deeming them as malicious and baseless. As he addressed the issue out of frustration, he questioned the woman’s mental state branding her mad using and using TikTok to gain cheap fame and likes at the expense of his reputation.
To clear his name, Balaam Barugahara pledged to engage in an HIV test at City Square with the woman in question. He further condemned the growing vice of youths misusing social media platforms to abuse their leaders, tarnish people’s reputations, and spread misleading information about innocent people.
“I do not want to talk about such stupid things because when I do, it is like I’m giving her a platform; it is satanic and I will not address it again. She is mentally unstable and to prove this, I can even go to City Square and have the HIV test done there before everyone to show the world that I’m okay. She is a mad woman looking for fame and the drugs that she is abusing are destroying her mind,” he said.
Balaam Barugahara called upon the government to regulate how people use the platforms to curb the spread of false news.

“I condemn the way people are misusing TikTok, they end up abusing leaders, spreading false information, and talking ill about other people just because they are looking for likes. As a Government, it is our duty to regulate such things. TikTok is a problem that is to be managed before they destroy more lives and reputation,” Balaam Barugahara said.
