Singer and Uganda Musician Association President Cindy Sanyu confirms Omukunja Atasera’s claims adding weight to the accusations slapped against Halima Namakula.
In 2024, Omukunja Atasera revealed that Halima Namakula and Hanson Baliruno connived and mismanaged the 2022 established Uganda Musicians Association (UMA) SACCO funds.
In response, Halima made it clear that she had no involvement in the UMA SACCO funds, suggesting that Omukunja’s claims were influenced by hidden motives.
Omukunja’s financial claims saw him bitterly fall out with Halima Namakula, and they have not been seeing eye since.
Towards the end of last year, Omukunja had limited social media and public presence, birthing rumors that he had passed on. Following months-long silence, Omukunja opened up about his health challenges and suffering, which he linked to Halima Namakula.
Amid this public back and forth, UMA President Cindy Sanyu in an interview shared details surrounding Omukunja and Halima’s drama.

Cindy revealed that she was aware of the UMA SACCO and its establishment noting that singer Hanson Baliruno was responsible for all the cash flow.
According to Cindy, when Omukunja approached her with his financial concerns, she advised him to take legal action, as he had all the necessary evidence to support his claims.

“I met with Omukunja and he showed me all the evidence of his claims,he had all the paperwork.vI then advised him that the best way to handle this situation was through court since he had proof to back up his claims.”
However, Omukunja opted to address the matter via social media, as he wasn’t willing and ready to file charges against the culprits.
