Singer and actress Evelyn Nakabira alias Evelyn Lagu has been laid to her eternal resting home in Kalungu Masaka.
At the start of this week on Monday morning 18 September 2023, Evelyn Lagu succumbed to her longtime illness of Kidney and Heart failure.
The singer’s body was laid at her home in Bujuuko for two nights, as the National Theatre Steadfastly declined to host the singer’s body over unclear reasons.
As Evelyn’s body lay at her home, several musicians including Eddy Kenzo, Spice Diana, Sheebah, Cindy Sanyu, Rema Namakula and many others turned up and performed as a way of celebrating the singer as well as paying their last respects.
The fallen singer was later driven to her ancestral burial grounds in Kalungu Masaka, where she has been put to rest in her eternal home.
Evelyn’s burial has been attended by several politicians, musicians, fans, well-wishers and family amid tears and sorrow.

Prior to the burial, Evelyn Lagu’s son Fred Kasavu conveyed gratitude to all his mother’s friends and well-wishers, for supporting his mother throughout the span of her ailment and turning up in big numbers to lay her to rest.
