The land owner surrounding the late Radio Mowzey’s gravesite has come out to deny the allegations birthed by Ms. Kasuubo Jane claiming that he wants a whopping sum of UGX 350M from the deceased’s family to purchase the piece of land.
Earlier this week, we saw the late radio Mowzey’s mother Ms. Kasuubo Jane coming out before the press, appealing to the general public for help to raise this money to acquire the piece of land connecting to the deceased’s gravesite located in Kagga, Nakawuka.
The controversial clip has stirred several arguments online, forcing the landowner to come out and give his side of the story in an interview with Kasuku Live.
Jjunju Henry a resident of Mazzi, Kajjansi Town Council, and the owner of the land in question stated that on 15th January 2015, he bought the piece of land measuring 50*278 from one Ssenfuka William worth UGX. 19.5M. At this time, Radio had already bought the 50*100 land near Jjunju where he established a flat.
On 9th August, 2015 I met the late Mowzey Radio who asked to buy a 50*100 piece of land. We agreed but he told me he never had all the money and he would be paying in installments. We made an agreement with the deceased on the very day and he paid UGX. 500K as a down payment out of the agreed 13M,” Jjunju said, showing off the agreement that said the balance would be paid by December 2015 to obtain the land title.
According to Jjunju, Radio came back the next day and gave him UGX. 1.5M making it UGX 2 M in total, telling him to acknowledge in his notebook and that happened for all the other times he continued sending him money.
Unfortunately, Radio failed to complete the payment and they agreed that he would be refunded the UGX. 7.5M he had paid for the land and had a balance of 2.5M
“He called me again in 2018. He came to Kagga and he asked to meet me for a discussion. When I came back from Luweero, I found him bedridden after the accident and did not get a chance to ever talk to him until he died,” he said.
After his death, Ms. Kasuubo Jane, and radio’s brother Frank Ssekibogo summoned him a week after the burial to get more details about the land.
“I explained to them about our business transactions and they asked me to sell the land to them. They said they would buy the land and pay UGX. 15M and Frank gave me UGX. 1M, promising to give me the balance the next time Bryan White’s promised money came through,” he said.
They failed to agree because Radio’s family failed to pay the money and he reseized his land which he says was being used to grow weed and Mairunji (Khat).
“I have come to say that I am not selling my land. I have never asked for UGX. 350M as claimed in the media. I have my land title and I’m asking the government for help. I want these people (Radio’s family) who trespassed on my land to vacate it because I need to use it.
I spent three years without stepping on that land. I had given up on it because the last time I visited; they beat me up so badly. This scared my lawyer from taking the case to court out of fear,” he said.
Radio’s family is yet to respond to Jjunju’s claims.
