Mesach Semakula has hailed Geoffrey Lutaaya stating how confident he was that the fellow band singer was destined for political greatness. The friendship between the two artists stems from way back as they started putting their music career together in the mid-90s.
In the 2021 general elections, Geoffrey Lutaaya announced his intentions to run for political office and according to Mesach, he was not surprised because he knew he had the potential.
He recalled in 1995 when they were younger during their meetings after rehearsals, Lutaaya oftentimes expressed his passion for politics and would remind them how he would take on in his father’s shoes. From how he spoke and communicated with them, Mesach knew Lutaaya was born a leader.
As of today, Geoffrey Lutaaya is a respected Member of Parliament representing Kakuuto District after he secured a landslide win under the National Unity Platform (NUP) party. Mesach believes he deserves every success he has achieved because he worked so hard to get there.
When they told me that he was on the ballot paper, I told people that he had to win. Most of the time he doesn’t do something before calculating it.
There is a statement he used to make while we were still younger. We used to sit around in groups after rehearsals and allow the older ones to speak. He had something he would say regularly that he was a politician because his father was one. This meant that he was watching whatever we did closely.

He is not a politician by mistake and whatever he is right now, he deserves to be there,” Mesach said.
