Mudra D Viral reveals the true industry heaviness requires successful concerts beyond Kampala

Dancehall artist Mudra D Viral real name Alfa Sebunya has opened up on what it takes to be termed a big and successful artist. According to the ‘Onkosa’ hitmaker, the influence and strength of artists can only be determined by their ability to hold successful concerts outside Kampala City.

Mudra’s statement follows A Pass’ successful concert at Kampala Serena Hotel. He, however, did not hold extra shows outside Kampala, unlike other big stars who always go the extra mile to perform in places like Masaka, Luweero, and Mukono among others.

Taking to his X handle DJ Nimrod mocked A Pass, stating that he had no right to call himself the greatest of all time if he did not get the courage to stage any extra shows outside Kampala.

Reacting to this take, in a phone interview with Galaxy FM, Mudra believes that concerts in Kampala rarely flop since it is easy for musicians to rally partiers to attend because of their fame.

But when they step out outside Kampala, that is when they can see how much they are supported and loved.

In his opinion, an artist cannot regard himself as an industry heavyweight if he cannot conquer other parts of the country.

“If you want to prove that you’re big, you step outside the city to see how vast your market is. Though most artists don’t do that. Some perform in Kampala as a means of enjoyment but if it is business and you want to grow your brand, you have to go somewhere else.

It is mainly to prove that you are a big artist. Music shouldn’t be only in the city where shows can easily be mobilized. An artist who has held extra shows outside the city is on another level, let me be honest. Because to measure your strength, you have to conquer the entire country,” he said.
