The president of Uganda, Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, has provided a guarantee of high-level security for attendees of the Nyegenyege Festival 2023.
This assurance comes in response to terror rumors that suggested that the infamous ADF rebels were planning to disrupt the ongoing festivities.
It is important to note that the Nyegenyege festival is currently taking place at the source of the Nile in Jinja and is scheduled to span four days.
As reported by UBC, President Museveni has pledged unparalleled security measures to counter any potential threats that may jeopardize the safety of festival-goers.
“Within Uganda, the security forces are diligently safeguarding public events such as the controversial Nyege Nyege festival and the Kyabazinga wedding.” Said President Museveni.
The president emphasized the importance of vigilance among the Wanainchi in various settings such as villages, churches, markets, and public transport. He noted that infiltrators are a minority and can be apprehended with increased awareness.
