Popular band singer Ronald Mayinja has condemned rising artists for prioritizing money over the educative value of their music lately.
Having been in the industry for over three decades, he has witnessed a massive decline in the music substance and quality over time.
For the longest time of his career, Mayinja has been part of the traditional bands that have always emphasized and fronted moral guidance and education.
In an interview, the ‘Bunkenke’ hitmaker recounted his early days when artists were mentored and guided on the quality of lyrics before they could get to release a song. They were taught to come up with purposeful lyrics; not just following the rhymes.
He, however, notes that today’s artists are lazy and they do not invest time and creativity into their craft, something that has watered down the quality of the music released.
We used to have music groups that mentored young musicians before they released any song. We would make them sing the lyrics all over again so that by the time they release a full song, the statements are clear.
Artists these days just hit the studio and sing random words on the beat given to them by producers. They cannot get themselves to sing the song off head because they do not remember what they recorded. They are too lazy to think.

Ronald Mayinja further warned young artists to avoid prioritizing money over their art. He also advised them to give their music time and avoid rushing through it if they are to release good music.
