Musician Lydia Jazmine has opened up on how Sheebah Karungi’s musical break has greatly affected the Ugandan music industry.
Sheebah Karungi took her big break immediately after her major concert last year and has been fulfilling her motherly roles in Canada. Since then, she has not released any new music, and Lydia Jazmine feels her silence has left a huge gap in the industry.
In an interview with Galaxy, the ‘Kindekele’ singer credited Sheebah for her strong influence on the young artists and how much she is among the top female musicians to have shaped the industry.
“There is definitely a gap because Sheebah is a big influence. I even laugh at people who disrespect her. Everyone has achieved something and is somewhere in the industry, but there are artists who paved the way; you just have to respect such people. Personally, I cannot disrespect someone like her because she inspired us to join the industry. She is a big influence and a big artist,” he said.

Lydia Jazmine went on to water down netizens’ allegations that Ava Peace has taken over Sheebah’s spot in these few months that she has been away.

“Can we have an industry where we cannot compare? I feel there is too much space for us to shine, and we are different. There will always be one Lydia Jazmine, one Sheebah, one Ava Peace…” Lydia Jazmine revealed.
