Late singer Evelyn Lagu’s son Fred Kasavu’s charity concert dubbed “Light a Candle for Evelyne Love” has been regrettably called off.
Before the demise of Evelyn Lagu, she was diligently organizing a philanthropic concert to commune with her fans before her passing, and generate financial resources to alleviate her medical expenses.
Unfortunately, Evelyn didn’t have the opportunity to witness her objective come to fruition, as she passed away a few days prior to the event.
The organizing committee for the charitable occasion, which included Mesach Semakula, Fifi Da Queen, Dianah Nabatanzi and other members, pledged to proceed with the event, with the proceeds intended to benefit the late singer’s son.
The organizing committee, however, has arrived at the realization that the previously agreed-upon date of 05 November coincides with another show for Aromatic Entertainment.
Their decision consequently ignited a verbal altercation with Aromatic, who contended that Evelyn’s charity concert, scheduled to take place at Papa’s Spot, was aimed at rivalling their show.
Mesach Semakula, who aims to avoid conflicts within the industry, has reached a decision to call off Evelyne’s charity concert. He requests that individuals interested in supporting the cause should contact Fred Kasavu through his social media inbox or by phone.
The cancellation came as a shock to many, especially those who had already purchased tickets and were eagerly looking forward to the event.
The revocation of the event is also a setback for the organizers; however, they maintain an optimistic outlook towards the future and have pledged to initiate the cause in the near future when artists have the same goal.

Mesach Semakula disclosed that Evelyn’s charity concert was not solely intended to assist her son, but also to foster peace and harmony within the industry, with the expectation that artists would soon extend support to one another when necessary.
However, it appears that the industry is not yet prepared for such a collaborative approach.
