Dancehall singer Ziza Bafana has come out to defend himself against critics who castigate him for not supporting Kalifah Aaganaga’s political ambitions despite their friendship.
Aganaga was among the nine candidates contesting for the Kawempe North By-Elections and fellow musicians did not come forward to support his candidacy. Ziza Bafana was among those pointed out and, in his defense, he has advised Aganaga to stop pinning his loss on artists.
Ziza Bafana explains that he is always willing to support his friends with anything concerning music but not politics citing his disinterest.
“I support him in music but not in politics. I have been with him on a personal level and I love him but I’m not a politician. He should try holding a concert and see if we won’t come out and support him,” he said.

When asked if he thinks Aganaga made a bad decision to mix his music career with politics, Ziza revealed that he supported his decision. However, there were other better options besides politics that Aganaga would have taken if he wanted to help develop his area people and it would have been in line with music.

“His decision is for someone who wishes to better themselves and their country. But I believe as a musician, you can also achieve this through music. You can make songs that show people what to do next. Make a campaign but this time asking people to respect music,” Bafana said.
Bafana further encouraged Aganaga to take his frustrations and disappointments to fellow politicians instead of artists who he says do not understand anything concerning politics.
