In a recent statement, Swangz Avenue singer Winnie Nwagi made a passionate plea to promoters in the diaspora to prioritize the comfort and well-being of musicians by considering accommodating them in business class when flying.
Recognizing the immense contributions of artists in promoting Ugandan music and culture abroad, Nwagi believes that providing them with a more comfortable travel experience is not only a gesture of appreciation but also a means to enhance their performance and overall productivity.
Winnie made the plea in light of having the opportunity to experience the business class amenities during her flight to Germany, where she is scheduled to perform tonight.
Nwagi asserted that the economy class is not necessarily unfavourable, however, for an artist, it can be quite awkward for various reasons, such as the possibility of being recognized by their fans while cramped in economy seats, snoring, and other similar situations.
Please first save enough money to make sure u going to treat us/our artists like the STARS they are … we’re already facing enough unfair treatment in this industry… we deserve better … Of course it’s exciting to be travelling but we don’t take advantage of Artists’ excitement… Our music and the demand are why u get to book us meaning we both need one another so don’t treat us like you’re doing us favours.
The “Musawo” singer maintained that even without diaspora shows, musicians can still make money at home and live.
START BOOKING BUSINESS CLASS FOR EVERY ARTIST THAT DESERVES IT … ENOUGH IS ENOUGH … Give us your best in treatment so we can as well give u our best in performance #respectfully Thank uOne Love
