Suuna Ben Calls Out Critics For Harsh Comments Against Musicians’ Hustles

Suuna Ben, a popular ‘Binyanya’ deejay has taken to the press to call out Ugandans for their harsh and often inaccurate reviews about musicians, something he says can have a devastating impact on their career and mental health.

In an interview, the Masaka-bred deejay spoke about how much he detests people who water down musicians’ talent not knowing that many of them solely rely on their craft for a living and invest a lot of time and resources to make it work out.

“It hurts me so much when one has to sit back and make negative comments. Some people turned music into a business that they cherish a lot. They keep building their brand names to sustain them. They abandon their other jobs and concentrate on music,”

“Most artists can’t do other jobs because people don’t take them seriously. The problem comes in when you invest all this and a person comes from nowhere and starts criticizing your music. You go back and think about the hustle you went through to raise the money you invested in the music and how you pleaded with people to have that. It hurts so much,” he said.

Suuna Ben’s remarks come after we witnessed DJ Nimrod calling out Gift Ov Kaddo, accusing him of being a drug addict following their clash at the ‘Memories Of Goodlyfe’ concert.

The Galaxy FM DJ and presenter even offered to pay for his rehab, claiming the artist was wasting away his career because of substance abuse.

“We shall not judge him (Gift Ov Kaddo) because we do not know. He is still a human being who stepped on stage and had fans cheering for him. Such words can be so hurtful to him. You do not know how bad it feels to be in the same space with someone who said very mean things about you; you never forgive them” Suuna Ben said.

Suuna Ben, being one of the few celebrities in Uganda who avoids trouble or fights with people, shared his personal experiences with critics’ harsh words and the emotional toll it took on him. However peaceful he may be, the deejay revealed that he would be willing to fight in case anyone ever came out to tarnish his image or his job.
