“We Don’t Choose Who We Are” Eddy Kenzo Condemns Acts of Tribalism In The Music Industry

The issue of violence and tribalism within the music industry has been brought to the attention of Eddy Kenzo, the president of the Uganda National Musicians Federation.

Western Uganda-based singer Ray G’s recent bottle pelting incident at the just-concluded “Enkuuka Tobongoota” event in Mengo is believed to have emanated from the disagreement he had recently with fellow singer Azawi in Mbarara at the Comedy Store.

This incident has been widely criticized as tribalistic, and Eddy Kenzo, along with other stakeholders in the music industry, has expressed their disapproval.

In a statement, Kenzo stated that he has been closely monitoring the events in Mbarara and Kampala regarding tribal sentiments.

He emphasized that such behaviour is unacceptable, especially at a time when unity should be the main focus of the industry.

Kenzo acknowledged that the incident occurred during the Christmas holidays, which delayed their response.

However, as the president of the musicians federation, he has instructed the Uganda National Musicians Federation Secretariat to conduct a thorough investigation and provide a report. Based on the findings, the executive will offer guidance and recommendations.
