Singer Catherine Kusasira has hit back at social media critics trolling her for the outfits she put on during her ‘Roots of Catherine Kusasira; Old Is Gold’ concert that happened over the weekend at the Sheraton Hotel Gardens.
Quite contrary to the many female artists who always go a little extra in both outfits and makeup for their big day, Catherine Kusasira stepped on stage dressed in the simplest attire and with no makeup; just a simple lipstick.
Social media users were quick to comment about her choices but in her defense, the ‘Nkola Ya Taxi’ hitmaker explained that her body cannot handle makeup because she sweats a lot and was afraid that it would come running down her face midway through her performances.
Catherine Kusasira emphasized that she avoided makeup to prevent embarrassment on stage but was still less concerned about what the naysayers had to say about her appearance because she was more focused on delivering the best performance for her fans.
“I’m a natural person who only applies simple lipstick. That is my only makeup because people did not care about all this but what I was delivering to them. Makeup would have run down my face because I sweat a lot. I couldn’t stand being embarrassed like this on stage so I chose a natural look,” she mentioned.
Catherine further revealed that her fashion choice was highly influenced by her husband, also singer Fred Sseruga who she says could not stop complimenting her for her beautiful looks.
“For those who say my outfits were fake, just forgive me because what matters to me the most is the fact that my husband appreciated every single one of them. He told me I was very smart and thought I was okay for the event.

That’s all that matters, for the people who think otherwise, you should know that you have a terrible heart and you are jealous. For a woman my size, it is hard to get perfect clothes and even when you go to a shop, our clothes are more expensive. Those who appreciated, thank you so much. The rest I do not care,” Catherine Kusasira asserted.
