“Everything He Said Was True” – Cindy Sanyu Commends Bobi Wine’s Speech

Dancehall singer and Uganda Musicians Association (UMA) President Cindy Sanyu has commended Bobi Wine’s speech about copyright law.

Bobi Wine recently delivered a speech at Kato Lubwama’s funeral that caused controversy on social media.

In his speech, Bobi Wine urged fellow musicians to fight for the implementation of copyright law and shouldn’t be blindfolded by the government monetary handouts which would turn them into beggars.

The speech provoked a range of responses from music industry players, with Cindy Sanyu being the most recent to remark about it.

In an interview, Cindy stated that everything Bobi Wine addressed in his speech was correct but that he may have been misquoted.

Cindy made it clear that an artist doesn’t require government assistance if regulations are implemented.

She continued by saying that in the two years, she has served as the UMA president, she has discovered that, contrary to popular belief, the government does not simply hand away money without any conditions because, eventually, it will call for accountability.
